Armstrong claims that the incident started inside the store. The woman reportedly made an effort to take a container of ammunition from a counter. She and Sanchez walked out of the store with the stolen package. Nearby to Sanchez, cops found a weapon. Armstrong claims that the police think he owns it.

At a press conference, Armstrong stated:

The shooting started when the SBI agent came upon the two people in the parking area.

“The person who shot the male in this interaction was the SBI agent.”

The woman is presently “under the care of medical professionals,” and neither her identify nor any allegations against her have been made public by the police.

The chief omitted to explain why the agent entered the establishment or what led to the shooting. Armstrong asserted that he discussed the officer-involved incident with SBI officials and Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman to “ensure we handle this with the utmost sensitivity.”

According to Armstrong, Freeman allegedly asked that the Apex Police Department take charge of the investigation. He claimed that when the incident took place, witnesses who had been in the parking lot at the time were being questioned by police.
