The Diplomat’s Season 1 conclusion left the viewers desperately wanting more, whether it was because of the devastating information about Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear), the jaw-dropping red dress, or the automobile explosion. Does the political thriller have a second season planned? Here is what we currently know.
The Diplomat will there be a Season 2?
The Diplomat has not yet received a formal Netflix renewal, which is unfortunate. Even though the series merely debuted on April 20, 2023, there is still time. The Diplomat may still be on the air if showrunner Debora Cahn has anything to do with it. When might The Diplomat’s second season air?
The Diplomat might be available to stream sooner than you think if it receives a second season renewal. The Diplomat was initially announced in January 2022, according to Marie Claire. Season Two could be completed by next summer if work goes according to plan because Netflix aired the first season 15 months after it began.
Who will return in the The Diplomat season 2 cast?
If The Diplomat does get a second season, Keri Russell as Kate Wyler, David Gyasi as Austin Dennison, Ali Ahn as Eidra Graham, and Rory Kinnear as Prime Minister Nicol Trowbridge are all expected to return.

What to Expect in Season 2 of The Diplomat?
In the season one finale, Kate and Austin learn that Trowbridge planned the attack on HMS Courageous and that he hired the Russian Lenkov Group to kill his own soldiers. We watch Grove’s car blow up right in front of Stuart and Hal after the cops break the bad news to Kate, and then the credits start to roll.
We’ll find out if these people died in the explosion or are currently recovering from their injuries if season two is granted. Austin and Kate will be working hard to build their case against Trowbridge as the White House keeps trying to get Kate sworn in as vice president.
It’s good that leading woman Russell is anxious to return for more drama, even though only time and renewal will be able to determine for sure. Absolutely my style. I’ve never enjoyed a show so much. She told Parade that Deborah Cahn’s writing and the work of the other team members were “phenomenal.”
So, if a second season were to be offered, I would seize the opportunity. Netflix decides how we find out. Who has the authority to declare what works and what doesn’t? But if it were possible, I would adore it.
