How to Clean Plastic Surfaces
Plastic is a convenient, easy to clean surface that can serve many purposes. With plastic, you don’t need to be overly gentle when cleaning and, since it is non-porous, cleaning requires little elbow grease.
Required Materials
- Absorbent cloth
- Paper towels
- All-purpose cleanser
Required Tools
- Pencil eraser
- Nylon brush
Instructions
- Begin by spraying the all-purpose cleanser on the plastic surface.
- On untextured plastic surfaces, wipe away the cleanser (as well as dirt) from the plastic using a clean, absorbent cloth or paper towel.
- Do not use cleansers that contain bleach on colored plastic.
- When cleaning textured plastic, spray the cleanser onto the surface and let it sit for 2 minutes. After that, use the nylon brush to clean the surface. The brush should reach into the grooves of the textured plastic and loosen any grime.
- If there are tough grease marks or scuffs on your plastic surface, use a pencil eraser to “erase” the mark. Simply rub the mark with the eraser and brush away the resulting dust.
- When cleaning plastic that covers computers or other electronic components, it is advisable to read the care instructions in the items manual prior to cleaning. Cleanser should never be sprayed directly on plastic that houses electronic components.
