How to Cook Crab Legs
Crab legs are one of the most flavorful and fun things to eat. Aside from the crab’s body, the legs are where you find the most meat. Crab legs are also easy to cook. Here are a number of ways to cook crab legs.
Steps to Cook Crab Legs
- Steaming is a common means of cooking crab legs. To do this, pour 2 cups of tap water in a large pot or steamer. Place a tablespoon of salt in the water and boil it.
- Place the crab legs in a rack. Place the rack in the steamer or pot. Bring the water to a boil again.
- Steam the crab legs for around 5 to 7 minutes. At this point, you may have smelled the aroma of the crab legs. Avoid overcooking the crab legs as generally, they have been already cooked before you bought them.
- Once the crab legs are done steaming, remove the rack containing the crab legs and serve them with lemon wedges and butter.
- Another option to cook crab legs is to boil them. Take a large saucepan and half-fill it with cold water. Add a tablespoon of salt in the water. Optionally, you can also add a seasoning of your choice.
- Boil the water. Once it is boiling, place the crab legs in the saucepan. Slightly reduce the heat and let the crab legs simmer for 5 to 7 minutes. Remove the crab legs and rinse them. Serve them while they are hot.
- Baking is also another option if cooking crab legs. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C or 350 degrees F. Crack each crab leg and place them on a baking tray. Brush the crab legs with oil or butter and seasonings. Bake the crab legs for 8 to 9 minutes.
