How to Unblock Websites
While surfing the Internet with a computer attached to a network, you may find that certain websites are blocked. This is done to prevent unwanted effects such as the spread of Web-based viruses and sharing problems. However, if you really need to access a blocked website, you can unblock it.
Steps to Unblock Websites
- You need to verify that the website you want to open is blocked. Do this by going to Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu, and click on Internet Options. Go to the Security tab page and select the Restricted Sites option. This will make the Sites button available.
- If you find the website on the list of restricted sites, highlight it, and delete it from the list.
- Lower the settings for the Internet security of the computer. Remember to restore the previous settings once you are finished using the computer and accessing the site. This will prevent viruses and malicious programs from entering the computer.
- Find a filter-removing program on the Internet. These programs enable you to go around the filter used by systems to block sites. Once you have found a filter removing program, install it, and remove it from the computer when you are done accessing the website.
- Look for a dummy proxy on the Internet. You will use this to bypass the block made for the website.
- Create a link to one of the free proxy servers. From the new site, create a link to the blocked website. This means that you will go through the proxy to the blocked website but the address bar of your browser won’t display the URL of the blocked site.
