How to Turn on JavaScript
JavaScript is used to create a wide variety of website elements, ranging from special effects to navigational elements of websites. If your JavaScript is not turned on, you will be unable to see any element that is created with JavaScript, which could have a negative impact on your browsing experience. The display of JavaScript is controlled by the browser.
Turning on JavaScript with Internet Explorer
- Select Tools from the menu at the top of the screen
- Click Internet Options
- Choose the tab labeled Security
- Select Custom Level
- Scroll through the sections until you come across one that is labeled Scripting
- Under the area that is labeled Active Scripting, select the Enable option and then click OK to turn on the JavaScript
Turning on JavaScript with Mozilla Firefox
- Select Firefox from the menu at the top of the screen
- Click Preferences
- Choose the tab labeled Content
- Check the box next to Enable JavaScript
- Close the Preferences window
Turning on JavaScript with Apple Safari
- Select Safari from the menu at the top of the screen
- Click Preferences
- Choose the tab labeled Security
- Check the box next to Enable JavaScript
- Close the Preferences window
Turning on JavaScript with Netscape Navigator
- Select Edit from the menu at the top of the screen
- Click Preferences
- Choose the tab labeled Advanced
- Select the tab labeled Scripts & Plug-ins
- Check the box next to Enable JavaScript and then click OK to turn on the JavaScript
If you follow the steps above for your browser and are still unable to see JavaScript elements, they are most likely being disabled by a firewall or piece of security software. Open your firewall or security software and follow the information provided in its Help menu to aid you in disabling it from blocking JavaScript.
