How to Repair a Truck Bed
A truck bed is considerably one of the most important parts of the truck for some owners. It can carry almost any type of object safely and with no trouble at all. - Fixing Rust or Rot
- Cut out the rust in the bed with a metal cutter or pliers.
- Cut a piece of metal sheet down to a size that will fit the hole. Make sure it is 1 to 2 inches wider than the hole.
- Fasten the metal sheet onto the bed with carriage bolts to cover the hole.
- Paint over the metal sheet and the entire truck bed or use a liner to protect the bed.
- Sand down the rust with sandpaper.
- Put some rust coat over the affected area before adding a primer.
- Finish by brushing paint or filler over it.
- Fixing a Dent
- Avoid dents and scratches on your truck bed by spreading a bed liner over it. They come in a variety of materials, such as rubber, chrome, or steel.
- Dents can be pound out from underneath the truck bed. You can use a rubber mallet to knock back the dent.
- Another way to fix a dent is by making a small hole into the center of the dent and inserting a pulling tool through it. Pull up the tool to make the dent pop up back in place. Cover the hole by sanding it down and adding filler. Finish it with paint.
