How to Perform Hotmail Password Recovery
Hotmail is a free web based e-mail system provided by Microsoft Corporation. Sometimes you may forget your password and not sure on how to recover it. Here are two fast and easy ways on how to get this done.
What you will need
- Hotmail & MSN Password Recovery 1
- The E-mail address
- Country/Region
- State
- Zip Code
Instructions
- The Hotmail & MSN Password Recovery 1 application recovers Hotmail and MSN Messenger passwords stored on your computer.
- Hotmail & MSN Password Recovery offers a tiny interface wherein you’ll simply hit the recover button, and your username and password are instantly displayed (though this version only retrieves the first letter of your password).
- There’s also a one-click access button to launch Hotmail’s site. In tests, this program failed to produce any results with MSN Messenger 7.5 even though it claimed to function with versions 6, 6.2, 7, and 7.5. Only after installing MSN Messenger 6 and adding NET Passport to your computer user account will Hotmail & MSN Password Recovery be able to deliver on its promises. Although it finally comes through, most users would prefer a password-recovery tool that can keep up with the rest of the pack.
- The easiest way to recover a Hotmail password is to go to the MSN Reset Password page. When you go to enter your username and password, below where you would enter the password you will see highlighted ‘forgot your password’. Before you can reset your password, you will need to type your Windows Live ID and the characters in the picture that shows below that.
- You then select an option for resetting your password. Either by
- 1. Using my location information and secret answer to verify my identity.
- 2. Send password reset instructions to me in e-mail
- If you select the first option then all you would do is enter your country or region and then the answer to the secret answer.
- Once you click enter it will take you to the page to reset your password. With the second option, you would select an e-mail address.
- Seeing as you are trying to reset the password for the first option you would click the second one which is for the password to be sent to an alternate E-mail address. This should have been selected at the time of creation of your hotmail email address. The same goes for the secret password.
- You will then see where it says the password reset instructions were sent to your alternate e-mail address.
