Deer Blinds are used by hunters in hunting, there primary purpose is to house hunters and keep them out of the sight of the animals that are being hunted. Deer blinds are usually painted in camouflage and this is what make deer blinds blend in with the surroundings and not obvious to animals that are being hunted. Some deer blinds are made using slide up windows that may have full or narrow openings.
Required Tool
Required materials
- 2*4 board
- 4*4 board
- Sheets of OSB
- 2*3 board
- Nail
- Paint
- Slide Glass windows
Instructions
- Make a drawing plan of the deer blind you want to build outlining the dimensions.
- Given that you have a plan ready, by using your saw, cut the OSB to the specific dimensions you have outlined
- Cut the 4*4 based on dimensions for the flooring and ceiling.
- Cut the 2*4 to act as the support for the flooring.
- By using your hammer and nail secure the 2*4 (acting as the support for the base) to the 4*4.
- Now the base is complete.
- Use saw to cut the 2*3 pieces to act as the support for the sides of the deer blind.
- Using the hammer and nails secure the support for the sides to the base.
- Be sure to remember the door when looking to add the sides.
- 10. Again using the hammer and nails secure the OSB to the 2*3 that are acting as the sidewall support.
- 11. The side wall OSB should extend about 5/8 up the expected side of the deer blind.
- 12. And space left to insert the sliding glass windows and having the OSB extending above the windows.
- 13. Now based on the specifications of the Slide Glass windows, use the guidelines to insert the windows ( the guidelines for inserting these windows will vary with the type).
- 14. Given that the window is now securely inserted, you are ready to add the roof to the deer blind.
- 15. By using 4*4 and the 2*3 as the support construct the roof of the deer blind.
- 16. Using your hammer and nail to secure it to the deer blind.
- 17. Now the Deer Blind is pretty-much complete, the last thing is to paint it, preferably using the colors that make up the camouflage
Tips
- Be sure to follow the safety guidelines for using your saw, so as to not get hurt.
- It is best to use camouflage paint as then it will blend in with the surroundings
