How to Kill a Tree

There may be times when you would need to kill a tree. If a tree is causing harmful effects to the surroundings, you need to do something to prevent it. Below are a few techniques to kill a tree.

Steps to Kill a Tree

  1. Stop Watering ItA common way to kill a tree is by not watering it. Water is an essential component in tree growth. So if you stop watering the tree, its branches will die and the entire tree will eventually die too. However, factors such as heavy rain may prevent this approach from working immediately.
  2. PavingPaving on the tree is another way to kill it. Locate the roots of the tree and place a large amount of pavement on it. Although it would require much heavy labor, this is considered as one of the quickest techniques for killing a tree. Just make sure that there are no other nearby trees you do not want to kill as this could also affect them.
  3. Spraying with UreaYou can also kill a tree by spraying commercial products on the leaves. Take a high concentration of urea/nitrogen and spray it on the tree’s leaves during a sunny day. Ensure that the leaves will be completely wet with the urea/nitrogen. This will burn the leaves and will eventually kill the tree. If you notice that the leaves are not burning, try to increase the amount of urea/nitrogen in your spray. This is an effective but costly technique.
  4. Use a copper nailYou can use a copper nail in killing a tree. Drive the copper nail until it reaches the base of the tree. This will cause an entry point for infection and disease. You need to have a huge copper nail if you want to kill a large tree.
