You may think installing a dishwasher requires the help of an expert. But through the following steps, you can install this valuable appliance in a few hours on your own.
Steps to Install a Dishwasher
- Determine if the place where you will install the dishwasher is near an electrical connection. Also, the area should have access to the drain pipe line and hot water line. For the said purpose, it is a good idea to choose an area near or on the sink.
- Read the instructions included in the dishwasher packaging. Although setting up the said appliance consists of general steps, some dishwashers may require specific things to do during the installation.
- Make sure the dishwasher fits properly in the space you selected. Place it in the space and remove it. There should be ample space for wires coming from the unit.
- Create a hole for the dishwasher is the next step. Make a 3-inch hole in the wall of the cabinet separating the unit from the cabinet space below the sink.
- Affix the drain hose to the unit’s output. Use a hose clamp for this step. You can purchase a drain hose from a home improvement store if your unit does not include one.
- Attach the water supply line to the unit’s hot water input valve. Make sure it is properly tightened. Then attach the electrical wiring to the dishwasher’s junction box. Use a set of wire nuts for this process. Close the box firmly.
- Place the dishwasher on the designated area. Thread the connections carefully through the hole you made.
- Attach the unit’s water supply tube and drain tube to the water pipe and sink drain. Install its mounting screws and test it if it runs smoothly.
