How to Install a Chain Link Fence

Having a chain link fence around your home or establishment is a good way to provide a line of security around your property. Below are the steps in installing a chain link fence for your property.

Steps to Install a Chain Link Fence

  1. Examine the surroundings of your property. Determine where you will put the posts for the fence. Measure the distance between each post. Doing so helps you identify the things you will need and the estimate cost of this project.
  2. Start purchasing the materials. In hardware stores, normally there are packages containing an entire set of materials for chain link fences. These packages include the posts, tension bands, braces, and chain mesh. You also need to purchase concrete as this is needed in the installation.
  3. Start installing the chain link fence. Set up the posts and make sure they are firmly installed on the ground. Ten feet is an ideal distance between each post. See to it that the posts are all in upright position. Then fill in the post holes with concrete. Double-check the posts quickly before the concrete dries.
  4. Place the tension bands on the posts. To make the structure more secure, add the brace bands at the end of each post. Place a cap on each post to cover it.
  5. Install the upper portion of the fence’s rail. Insert the rail to the caps. Set the edge of the rails to the brace bands.
  6. Take the tension bar and set it on the tension bands. Using a set of wires, fasten the mesh to the topmost portion of the rails. Stretch out the mesh around the posts.
