  • Gardening soil
  • Water
  • Fertilizer

Instructions

  1. Buy fresh ripe pineapple, makes sure leaves are all healthy.
  2. Use a cutting board and a knife to cut the crown of the pineapple off.
  3. Trim away any excess of the fruit remaining (this will rot the plant later).
  4. To make planting easier strip a few of the basal leaves from the crown.
  5. Set the shoot aside for a couple days so that it will harden off, and be less susceptible to rot (shoot should be placed upside down).
  6. Pineapple is ready to be planted, make sure the pot that you are using has adequate water drainage.
  7. Use gravel at the base of flowering pot, then add potting soil and immerse pineapple crown with leaves just above the soil.
  8. Water the plant sparingly as pineapple only need to be watered once per week.
  9. An organic fertilizer maybe used after every two months to spray the crown and soil.
  10. Pineapple is a tropical plant and must be grown in such conditions (warm, sunny, environment).
  11. It may take your plant about two years to completely develop. An inflorescence bud will begin to form in the center of the leaves; this is the initial budding of the fruit.
  12. When the actual fruit appears, it takes about six months for the color of the shell to be changed from green to rich gold. The color change of the shell occurs in an upward direction, the fruit becomes sweeter and the color of the flesh changes from white to yellow.
