How to Grind Coffee Beans
Making your own coffee is indeed a very rewarding and enjoyable experience, and it all starts with grinding coffee beans. This task is easy to do. You only have to follow the steps below.
Steps to Grind Coffee Beans
- Choose the right coffee grinder. Coffee grinders come in two major types: grinders with blades and grinders with burrs.
Coffee grinders with metal blades are more inexpensive and are suitable for individuals who are just starting to learn how to grind coffee beans. However, these grinders provide less control over the fineness level of the coffee. Coffee grinders with burrs are relatively more costly but they give you more control over the fineness of the grinding.
- Start grinding your coffee beans. But before pouring the beans in the specified compartment, make sure there are no small stones or foreign particles included in the beans. These may damage the grinder and get mixed in the coffee.
- Pour a specific amount of beans in the grinder. This depends on the size of the compartment. Close the lid tightly.
- Set the grinder to the proper mode of grinding. If you are just testing your grinder, you may want to start with the coarse mode. Afterwards, you can reset it to fine mode. Most grinders have a feature that automatically shuts off the unit after a specific number of minutes. If yours does not have one, you can time the grinding process according to the level of fineness you want.
- Check whether they still need grinding or they have reached the desired fineness. Grind the beans again if they have not reached the right fineness.
