How to Eat Snow Crab Legs

Snow crabs are a type of crab that has gained much popularity in all-you-can-eat buffets. This is partly because snow crabs are much easier to crack open than other types of crabs. In addition, the legs of snow crabs are the most favorite parts of people who love this type of seafood. If you are new to this meal, here is how you eat snow crab legs.

Steps to Eating Snow Crabs

  1. Prepare the snow crab legs. Get the biggest pot in your kitchen. Pour two inches of water in it. Boil the water.
  2. Add sea salt to the snow crab legs for flavor. You can use table salt if you do not have sea salt. When the water is boiling, place the snow crabs in the pot. Cover the pot with the lid. If the legs prevent you from entirely covering the pot, use tin foil to cover the pot.
  3. Steam the snow crab legs for 10 to 15 minutes. Take the snow crab legs out of the pot and let them cool for a few minutes. You can optionally mix some cloves of garlic in butter and microwave the mixture until it melts.
  4. When the snow crab legs are cool enough to touch, use a cracker to break open the claw part of the crab legs. Use your fingers to snap apart the thinner snow crab legs. The meat inside the crab legs normally comes out in one whole chunk. If you made the garlic and butter mixture, you can dip the meat in it before eating the crab meat. Snow crab legs can be eaten with rice or on their own.
