How to Draw Anime

A form of art that is similar to manga, anime is known to many artists as Japanese animation. This art is very famous because it is used in commercials, videos, video games, films as well as television series. It started in Japan in 1917 as an alternative to cartooning because creating cartoon shows is very expensive. The art has influenced not just the culture of the Asian country, but also the world culture. One of the films launched by Disney that was influenced by anime is “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” in 1937. Materials Needed

To avoid experiencing problems while illustrating animated characters, it is best to gather all the important materials before starting the activity. The most important materials needed for the activity include a clean paper, a pencil and an eraser. To improve the drawing, it is important to use colors.

Guidelines

To know how to draw anime, start with the head of the character. Make an oval or round shape at the center of the paper, depending on the shape of the character’s head. Draw horizontal lines, one at the top, middle and bottom portion of the head. Afterwards, create a vertical line crossing the horizontal lines in the head. These lines will serve as guides to locate where to draw the eyes, mouth and nose of the anime.

Below the head, draw two vertical lines that will represent the neck. For the shoulders, draw two horizontal lines at the end of the neck. Connect an oval shape to the shoulders to draw the chest. Draw horizontal ovals at the right and left portion of the chest to draw the arms. At the end of the arms, draw the hands of the character.

After making the head and chest of the anime, draw vertical oval shapes connecting to the chest of the anime to represent the legs. Draw the feet at the end of the legs. Finish the details by drawing the eyes, nose and mouth of the character. Draw the clothes and shoes. Erase all the unnecessary lines. Color the anime to make the illustration more interesting and attractive.

Tips

Regular practice makes you an expert in drawing animated characters. It is important that you have sufficient background on the proportions of anime. The shoulders and body of anime are usually smaller and thinner than human. On the other hand, the head is usually bigger than human.
