A rose is one of the attractive, lovely and beautiful flowers that symbolize love or romance. This flower is usually given by individuals to their loved ones to represent passion and attraction. Below are the simple steps and tips that you can use to know how to draw a rose.
Materials Needed
In this project, you will need a clean white paper, a pencil and an eraser. To enhance the appearance of the illustration, you will use a pencil with light shade. Other materials that can be used to make the drawing realistic are colors.
Instructions
Create a vertical line that will serve as a guide for the stem of the flower. The line should be straight but do not use a rule when creating the line. Start with the thorns of the rose. At the bottom of the stem, make a line upward to the left portion and create a sharp curve to the stem to represent a spine. Continue doing until you fill both sides with spines.
The next step is to draw the leaves of the flower. At the middle portion of the stem, make a horizontal line with a slight bend. Use this as a guide in making the leaf. Make two curves at the top and bottom, connecting the ends of the line to make a leaf. Make small lines connecting the centerline and the leaf’s edges.
At the top of the stem, make several banana-shaped leaves of various sizes and lengths. On top of the leaves, create two big teardrop shapes. Provide a space between the shapes. Behind these figures, create several teardrop shapes. Avoid drawing the parts of the shapes, which are hidden by the figures in the front. These shapes represent the petals of the rose. Use a light pencil to shade the edges of the shapes.
Erase the lines and other shapes that are needed in the illustration. Color the drawing to enhance the appearance of the flower.
Tips and Warnings
To make the drawing more attractive, get a piece of rolled cotton and carefully smudge the shaded areas of the illustration. To avoid having problems, get all the required materials beforehand. It is also helpful to look for a picture or any illustration of a rose that you can use as a guide in the drawing. If you cannot find a white paper, it is best to use a paper that has light color like yellow. Finally, use clean erasers when removing unnecessary lines and figures in the illustration.
