How to Dial Internationally
Whether it is for business or personal purposes, there are probably going to be times when you need to make an international phone call. If you find that you need to make an international phone call, there are several different methods for placing your call.
Dialing Internationally using Direct Dial
- Dial 011
- Dial the Country Code
- If necessary, dial the City Code (you will not need to dial a City Code if the Country Code has an *)
- Dial the phone number of your recipient
Dialing intentionally using Credit Card or Operator Assistance
- Dial 01
- Dial the Country Code
- If necessary, dial the City Code (you will not need to dial a City Code if the Country Code has an *)
- Dial the phone number of your recipient
Dialing Internationally using International Directory Assistance
Method 1
- Dial 1-800-225-5288
- Dial 21 after the recording
- Dial 0 after the second recording
- Request International Directory Assistance
Method 2
- Find your long distance company code. It will be three or four digits.
- Depending on the company code, dial 101 + ### or 101 + #### (replace the ### or #### with the company code of your long distance provider).
- Request International Directory Assistance
Method 3
- Dial 00
- Request International Directory Assistance
Tips
- When you dial an international phone number, don’t be alarmed if you don’t immediately hear a dial tone. In many cases, it takes at least forty-five seconds for the dial tone to start.
- Depending on your service provider, the 011 method of access may not be available for international calls. If you are not able to successfully dial 011, you should contact your service provider and find out what you need to do to place an international phone call.
