There will come a time that people need to bring down a tree from their backyards. They may become an eyesore especially when grown at the wrong place. Likewise, they can obstruct electrical wires, which pose tremendous risks to family members. When this happens, people can follow these quick and simple steps and learn how to cut down a tree. By doing this, they can save money instead of paying someone to cut it.

Materials Needed

Because this task is not an easy one, be sure to come protected from any potential harm. Safety glasses and work gloves are very important for this job. Likewise, bring in an orchard ladder, a pruning saw and a chainsaw. At some point of the tree cutting, a rope may come in very handy.

Steps

Get an orchard ladder. Use this to reach branches in the uppermost part of the tree. To stabilize the ladder, use the rope and then tie it between the rungs and the supporting leg. When it is stable enough, slowly cut the upper parts of the tree. Use the chainsaw or the pruning saw to remove branches one at a time. Cut larger branches into smaller pieces for safer and easier handling. Avoid cutting bigger chunks of wood because they are harder to handle.

When cutting through the other parts of the tree, simply position the ladder in convenient places. To ensure safety, use the ladder instead of stretching the body just to reach farther parts of the tree. Position it in a place where cutting is more convenient and safer. One by one, remove the minor branches. When the tree is low enough, using an ordinary ladder is enough to do the job. Cut the trunk into smaller but manageable pieces. Not only is the handling much easier, but also disposing them.

Be patient. This task usually requires a lot of cutting. For those who have a tree chipper, this can speed up the process. For those who do not have such tool available, simply cut one piece at a time. The last section to be taken out must be at least 6 inches high. The tree stump is much harder to remove. This will usually need the help of special equipment called stump remover. This machine is highly effective in grinding wood.

Let the branches, trunks and leaves to dry for a couple of days. After that, throw them at the fireplace to produce heat indoors. On the contrary, burning them outdoors is a much easier option of disposing these materials.
