How to Cut a Faux Hawk

Unlike the Mohawk cut, a faux hawk hairstyle is better looking, more controlled and more fashionable. At the same time, it is unisex, which means that both male and female can actually sport this special look. According to hair experts, people can look elegantly classy with a touch of punk and rock and roll just by learning how to cut a faux hawk. Instead of shaved sides, the swept up hairs are arranged beautifully at the sides for a nice and unique look.

Materials Needed

This unique hairstyle requires very few materials. People can easily learn how to cut a faux hawk by bringing in a fine-toothed comb for styling purposes. It also needs a bristle brush and any kind of special hairstyling product such as styling gel or wax, which will help in holding the hair in place. Finally, hairspray also plays an important part in this special hairdo.

Steps

Before anyone can sport a faux hawk, a relatively long hair is required. There is no need to wash hair for those who wish to undergo such unique styling process. This is true especially for individuals with fine and soft hair. Palm a generous amount of styling wax or gel. Apply them on the sides using a continuous combing motion. This particular step is very important because it will hold the hairs still at the side of the head, which is one of the primary characteristics of such interesting hairstyle.

Get the bristle brush and then use it to create a high ponytail using at least 2/3 of the top hairs. This ponytail will then fall down upfront and form a neat looking hairline somewhere at the forehead. At the lower part of the first ponytail, create another one, this time using the bottom parts of the hair.

After this important step, use a fine-toothed comb to create a volume at the front part of the hair. This will then lead to a visibly high look. Get the brush once again and then gently use it to hold the hair back. Afterwards, use it to raise the hairs up front. Use some bobby pins to hold the hairdo in place.

Once the desired style and height of hair are achieved, use a hairspray, preferably one that produces a strong hold to strengthen the do. Look at the mirror. Check out the front, back as well as the upper part. Use the fine-toothed comb to add further details for a more sophisticated look. Match the hairstyle with the appropriate clothing and then show off that trendy, unique and interesting hairstyle.
