How to Call International Directory Assistance

As the world becomes more connected, it only makes sense that the need to make international calls will become more common. In some cases, you may have the international phone number of the individual you are trying to reach, but many times, you may know who you need to call but are unsure of their phone number. At times like that, International Directory Assistance can be a major aid.

Instructions

First Option

1. On your phone, dial the digits 00.
2. When prompted, ask for International Directory Assistance.

Second Option

1. On your phone, dial the following toll-free phone number: 1-800-225-5288.
2. Once the first recording has finished playing, dial the digits 21.
3. Once the second recording has finished playing, dial the digit 0.
4. When prompted, ask for International Directory Assistance.

Third Option

1. Using the Internet or another source of reference, track down the company code of your long distance provider. The company code should be three to four digits in length.
2. On your phone, dial the digits 101, followed by the three or four digit company code that you found in Step One.
3. When prompted, ask for International Directory Assistance.

Tips

• Once you make your call to an international phone number, it can take forty-five seconds or longer for the dial tone to begin. Therefore, it is important that you don’t hang up your phone before the call is even connected.
• Different International Directory Assistance can cost different amounts, so be sure you educate yourself about any potential charges you may incur.
