Instead of spending day after day inside of a boring gym trying to get into shape, you can enjoy the outdoors and work towards your goal of losing that extra weight and getting a healthier body.

Instructions

  1. Before you start looking for a bicycle, you need to decide where you will mainly be riding it. For example, if you are going to be riding on pavement the majority of the time, you will want to look for a different bicycle than if you are planning on riding on trails the majority of the time. Another example is that if you want to learn how to perform tricks on a bike, you will want to look at different bicycles than if you want a bike to use for riding long distances.
  2. Once you have decided what you will primarily be using your bicycle for, you can start looking for that specific type of bike. In addition to bicycle stores, you can also see what kind of bikes are available at sporting goods stores and general stores like Target & Wal-Mart.
  3. After you have gotten a general idea of the types of bicycles that are available, you should set a budget for yourself. Bikes range from a couple hundred dollars to thousands of dollars, so its important to set a budget that you can afford and then focus on looking at bikes that fall within that price range.
  4. When you begin looking at the bikes more seriously, don’t be afraid to give them a thorough evaluation. You are going to be spending a lot of time on your bicycle, so before you make any final decisions, you need to make sure that you are comfortable on it. As you are comparing different bikes, be sure to test out how well you fit on the bike and how comfortable you are when you are sitting on the seat.
  5. Once you narrow down your bicycle choices to a handful of different options, you should take some time to research each model online. Although a bike may seem great when it’s in the store, sometimes it is impossible to identify potential problems, so the best thing you can do is get online and read what other people are saying about each bicycle model. If there are any problems with the bike, you can count on it being brought up online.
  6. After you are able to review other customers’ thoughts on each type of bicycle, you should be ready to make an informed decision. Once you decide which bicycle is right for you, you can head back to the store where it is located and make your purchase.
  7. If you need any adjustments made to the bicycle, the store may be able to make those adjustments for you. However, if you purchase your bicycle from a general store like Target or Wal-Mart, you may need to take your new bike to an actual bicycle shop to get the necessary adjustments made.
  8. Regardless of how much you spend on a bicycle, if you don’t take care of it, it is not going to last. Therefore, make sure that you perform all of the necessary maintenance procedures that are outlined in your owner’s manual. As long as you keep your bicycle in good condition, it should last for years to come.
