How to Build a Wrestling Ring

A wrestling ring is a unique structure you can have in your home or gym. It gives the feel of actually participating in a real wrestling match. If you are planning to build your own wrestling ring, below are the steps to perform this project.

Steps to Build a Wrestling Ring

  1. Determine where you want to build the wrestling ring. The area should be wide enough to fit a small crowd in addition to the ring itself. Know the size of the ring. Generally, a ring with a length and width of 12 feet is appropriate for most areas.
  2. You can then prepare the needed materials. You have to purchase post turnbuckles for your ring. You need to get 4 metal posts, each one having a 4-inch diameter. Install the posts into the ground and cement them. Keep in mind the measurements you have previously determined.
  3. Work on the base of the ring. For this you will need 4 12-foot 2×8 planks. Install the planks at the base of the ring. Make sure they are aligned well with the posts. Then fill up the base with a strong material to hold up the canvas. You can use layers of hard cushion supported with wood or steel.
  4. Fill the entire 12×12 space of the ring with plywood. Secure the plywood to the planks using screws. You can use mattress pads for the ring’s padding.
  5. Place the canvas on the ring. Make sure the canvas does not move by securing it on each corner of the ring. To keep the turnbuckles in place, drill eye-hooks on each post and use washers and nuts to secure the hooks.
  6. Attach the ring ropes and test the ring for durability.
