How to Build a Motorcycle Jig

A motorcycle jig is a structure used in accommodating and supporting a motorcycle frame.

Steps to Build a Motorcycle Jig

  1. Have a template for the jig. Look for motorcycle jig templates and plans in stores selling motorcycle accessories. You can also find these templates in certain motorcycle-related websites. Try to get the exact jig template for your motorcycle style or model.
  2. Once you have selected a template, you can start building your jig. Begin with the neck jig post. For this part, you need a 1/8- inch steel tubing. The usual measurement for this is 2′ x 3′. This may vary depending on your template.
  3. Clamp two plates to the post to allow vertical adjustment of the neck.
  4. Get a ‘-inch bar and set it on a pivot. This will be used to pass through the structure’s neck.
  5. Build the axle post. This is made of ” tubing and is usually 2′ x 4′.
  6. Attach ‘-inch axles to the plates.
  7. Secure the axle with spacers and shaft collars.
  8. Weld together a ‘-inch steel plate and a piece of ‘ square tube. This component allows vertical movement of the plates and the jacking up to the desired point.
  9. Work on the engine fixture. Start with the lower rails. They should be set with steel stubbing that is 1 ‘ inches. Normally, your engine bar should be made of 1 x 4- inch steel.
  10. Make two lower rails having 1 ‘ spacers between them.
  11. Let a threaded rod pass through the channels.
  12. Use an angle and nut to secure the bolt.
  13. Screw the engine plate to the fixture.
