Boiling eggs can be a tricky task. You can only see if you did a good job after you’ve opened the eggs.
Steps to Boil Eggs
- Choose the eggs to boil. Do this according to the type of boiled egg you want. Fresh eggs contain a more centered yolk. It is less likely for these eggs to crack since they’re generally sealed better. However, fresh eggs are difficult to peel. Use fresh eggs if you intend to cut them in half after boiling. Refrigerated eggs are easier to peel but are most likely to crack faster.
- Gently place the eggs in an empty pot. Pour around 2.5 cm or 1” of water into the pot. The temperature of the water needs to be just right. Cold water will lengthen the cooking process, while hot water can overcook the eggs.
- Apply heat on the pot. Cover the pot and let the water boil. The type of result you want depends on how long you will boil the eggs.
The eggs will remain semi-liquid inside when boiled for 2 to 3 minutes. It will have a barely solid outer white and a semi-liquid yolk when boiled for 3 to 5 minutes.
The eggs will have a firm outer white and a semi-liquid yolk when boiled for 5 to 6 minutes. On the other hand, it will have a solid outer white and a dry granular yolk when boiled for 10 to 15 minutes.
- After boiling the eggs, let them cool by replacing the hot water in the pot with cold water. You can serve the eggs once they are cool enough to be peeled.
