How to bake potato
Potatoes can be baked in a convection oven, a microwave oven or on a grill. When well cooked, a baked potato has a fluffy interior, but a crispy skin.
Required tools
- Large sauce pan
- Knife
- Baking dish
Required materials
- 2 pound potatoes
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 pint milk
- 1 oz butter
- 2 cups water
Instruction
- Peel and wash potatoes thoroughly. Use a fork to pierce potatoes, this ensures cooking all the way to the core.
- Boil water in a sauce pan large enough hold potatoes. Add potatoes to boiling water
- Boil potatoes for thirty minutes to soften them.
- Drain potatoes and add butter and milk. Mash potato until creamy.
- Fill the baking dish with the potato mixture. Bake at 180oC or 350oF for twenty minutes.
Tips and warning
- A baked potato is also known as a jacket potato when given additional fillings such as cheese, ham, or chicken.
- Some varieties of potato such as Russet and King Edward potato are more suitable for baking than others, due to both their size and consistency.
