Although acrylic nails are the most common choice for women looking to enhance the appearance of their existing nails, you may be interested in trying silk nails. Of all the available nail choices, silk nails are considered to be the most natural looking.
Required Materials :
- Silk Nail Wraps
- Glue
- Plastic Compressor Sheet
- Buffing Oil
- Plastic Sealer
Required Tools:
- Scissors
- 180 Grit File or smaller
- Micro File
- Tweezers
Instructions :
- Thoroughly clean off your natural nails (this includes removing any existing type of fake nails).
To ensure proper adhesion, use a 180 grit file to remove the shine from your nail plates (if needed, you can also use a smaller grit file).
- Depending on the size and shape of your natural nails, cut the silk nail wraps accordingly. The wrap should be cut so that it rounds off near the cuticle.
- Apply an even and light coat of glue over the surface of your natural nail.
- Lay the silk nail wrap over your natural nail, leaving a small amount of space between the silk nailand the cuticle (using a pair of tweezers can often make the application easier).
- Use a plastic compressor sheet to gently slide over the surface of the silk nail. This will ensure that the silk nail properly adheres.
- Trim away any excess portion of the silk nail that is hanging off of your natural nail.
- To ensure that the silk nail is secure, re-glue the surface and repeat Step Six.
- Coat the nail with buffing oil and then use a micro file to give the entire nail a smooth finish.
- Apply a plastic sealer to the surface of the silk nail.
- Once the plastic sealer has dried, if desired, you can apply nail polish to the silk nail.
- Repeat Steps Four through on your remaining nine nails.
