How to Get Rid of Ants

Ants can be very annoying especially when they have found a source of food inside your home. But through the following procedures, you can get rid of ants and eliminate the problems they cause.

Steps to Get Rid of Ants

  1. Removing the chemical trail of ants is one way to get rid of them. The chemical trail is provided by scout ants that want to let the other ants know where they found the source of food. Find the area where ants are marching in a line. Use soap and water to scrub off the chemical trail the ants leave in that line. Crush the ants forming the line and scrub the line from the beginning to the end.
  2. Removing the food source is another way to get rid of ants. Vacuum and mop the room where you find ants. Make sure crumbs and small pieces of food are removed. Keep food in only one part of the house to prevent similar events.
  3. Finding a scout ant and crushing it is also a good way to prevent ant infestation. Crush any lone ant you see in your home. This is most likely a scout ant looking for a food source it could let other ants know.
  4. Covering any small holes in your home where ants could enter. If you notice an ant trail, follow the line until you find the entrance where the ants come from. Use the right type of sealant to cover the said spot.
  5. Putting cornmeal on an ant hill is another good way to get rid of ants. Once you found an ant hill outside your home, sprinkle a generous amount of cornmeal on it. This is an inexpensive and environmental-friendly way to kill ants.
